Fall Season 2010

Players

  • Games will be played Saturday mornings September 11 - October 16, 2010 at Calahan Park, Burlington VT.

GBGSL is a recreational league that invites participation from girls regardless of their level of skill it is up to the parent/s to determine if the activity is a match for their child. If the demand of the league exceeds the capabilities of the player, parents will be expected to work with the coach at the start of the season, and assist the coach/team during the season to support their child and the team.

Alternatively, the parent may have the child participate with the assistance of an 'aide' or 1:1 support person provided by the parent.

Coaches

Signing up to Coach

If you are interested in coaching, please check the volunteer section of your daughter’s registration form or contact the league at 651-7715. We need this information to help in the process of building our teams.

Coaching Eligibility Process:

  • New Coaches and Veteran GBGSL Coaches - New This Season: We are using Got Soccer for the fist time this season. You will be getting an email from them requesting you to sign in and verify information in order for a background check to be performed. This needs to be completed as soon as possible. If you have any questions please let us know. There is no "paperwork" needed, just the online process.
Team Assignments: You will also get an email with the Username and Password for your team so you can go in and see your roster. The players will be notified of your contact information as well.
Thank you for volunteering to coach for our upcoming season. We have 34 teams scheduled play with 440 girls.

Coaching Clinics: THIS THURSDAY: AUGUST 26th 6 to 7 pm at Calahan Park: We are holding a coaches Meeting and clinic for K and Division I coaches as well as any new coaches to the league.

  • We also have a coaching clinic scheduled for August 30th from 5:30 to 7:30 at Dorset Park. This clinic is being offered in conjunction with other area youth soccer organizations. You need to RSVP via email to Sheri at infogbgsl@gmail.com. David Saward, the Middlebury College Men's Coach is presenting the clinic; this is a great opportunity. You will not be required to pay for the clinic simply let them know you are a GBGSL coach. This clinic is open to all however it will be geared towards the Division II and III teams. If you are coaching at a lower level (K or Div I) and would like to attend and can pare down the drills you are welcome to do so.

Referees

Interested in being a referee for GBGSL games? We encourage GBGSL "graduates" to become certified referees! We love to have you on the field as a referee and role model for the young players. Games are played Saturday mornings from 8am until noon, Spring and Fall.

To be a referee for GBGSL, you need to be certified by the Vermont Soccer Association. Please see the VSA website (link below) for information regarding when these courses are offered. Once certified, you are entered into the Got Soccer system where you are matched with scheduled games. Please be aware, most game assignments are done in "blocks" meaning you will be assigned to 2 games, back to back. This can mean the 8 and 9 am games for which you will need to "accept" both.

Any questions, contact Sue Donahue (vtdonahue@comcast.net), GBGSL Board member and referee liaison.

Please see visit the VSA web site for more information.
